EVGA Will Replace All RTX 3090s That Are Affected by Amazon’s New World
EVGA confirmed the RTX 3090s that had been affected by the New World closed beta would be replaced.
EVGA has confirmed that it will replace all of its Geforce RTX 3090 graphics cards that were affected by the closed beta version of Amazon’s New World MMO. A spokesperson from PC Gamer stated that all 3090’s that failed are being replaced. A few gamers who participated in the closed beta complained of their graphics cards being bricked. EVGA RTX3090 cards were especially affected.
While the exact issue wasn’t immediately known, Amazon came out and stated that there was no relation between the issues with graphics cards and the New World closed beta. “Hundreds of thousands of players participated during the New World Closed Beta yesterday, with millions of total hours of gameplay,” stated Amazon, “We’ve received a couple of reports from players with high-performance graphics cards having problems with their hardware when playing New World.”
New World also stated in the statement that it is using the standard DirectX calls made by Windows API. The statement also stated that there were no issues widespread found with EVGA’s RTX3090s during test in alpha or closed beta.
Amazon issued an update to address any concerns players might experience, despite saying that there were no issues with the game. Amazon confirmed that the New World Closed Beta was safe to play. “To further assure players, I’m implementing a patch today which caps frames per second in my menu screen. We’re thankful for the feedback New World is receiving from players all over the world, and will be listening to their feedback throughout Beta and beyond.”
Amazon said that the issue could be caused by driver settings frame rate limiters Nvidia RTX3090 series and GPU use. To fix the problem, Amazon advised users to disable driver-overrides and to set the maximum FPS limit to 60.
New World was originally supposed to debut in August 2020, however, it was delayed due to several times. To make substantial improvements, the release date was moved back to Aug 31. “We’ve been working on exciting features that we believe are necessary to have at launch. The features will not be available until the spring timeframe we had discussed,” said the dev team.
