The HBPG call on all peoples living in the TRNC to fight for justice and to help the 24 Turkish Cypriot families who may lose there homes
We hear that the government is to set up a 5 man commission to investigate corruption in the construction sector and among advocates in the TRNC, but that this idea was met with opposition from many of the other political parties.
So what are we to make of the other political parties who are against such a clear and justified action by the government?
Here are the Parties against this action for justice as reported in the Cyprus Today.
DP Democrat Party, CTP the Republican Turkish Party, and freedom and reform party, ORP, Social Democrat Party TDP.
This is a list of shame - as one Turkish Cypriot told me these are People of Straw, People with no Faces, People against Justice.
Last but not least Baris the Lefkosa bar association objects, this comes as no great surprise as this is the very governing body who stated ‘the advocates have no duty of care towards their clients’, the same Bar that has failed to bring any action against wayward advocates, despite recorded complaints by the HBPG members.
The DP is reported as stating the Government are acting like dictators, the TDP, calling it Gestapo tactics. Why?
So what is wrong with hunting down corruption? What is wrong with bringing the guilty to justice? Are these ‘men of straw’ seriously suggesting that such acts are that of dictatorship, or Gestapo tactics?
The HGPG are only to well aware how deep is the corruption and nepotism in the TRNC, as are all right thinking people whether they are brave enough to voice it or not.
Today’s economy and lack of faith in the future in the TRNC is a direct result of not having a commission, or similar body to which the ‘faceless men of straw’ are answerable.
These ‘men of straw’ would see hundreds, if not thousands of innocent victims, like the Turkish Cypriot families and foreigners who are still under threat of having their houses auctioned, although the first of these was temporarily stopped by actions of the HBPG members – because there was no official body anyone could approach for help, it was down to people power and exposure of inadequate and outdated laws.
Cyprus Today (dated 18/7/2009) reports of a further 24 Turkish Cypriot families in danger of losing their homes. This is a disgrace! There are now some 7000 HBPG members of all nationalities and this list is growing daily as more of these ‘horror stories’ are exposed. The HBPG is committed to help and support any families now under threat from the greed of the few. Tell the ‘men of straw’ we will fight you with the support of our growing numbers and with the governments help and we will win! Corruption serves no purpose than to make the few rich, and cause misery and despair to the majority.
If you believe in justice for all peoples living in the TRNC you should join the HBPG, in numbers we will overcome the men of straw and stop more innocent people from becoming victims of these faceless men of straw.
Report from the Cyprus Today (dated 18/7/2009), The Ramblers thoughts.
How can this builder argue, that if he was paid all the money people owed him he would be able to pay of 1Million of the debt? Well excuse me Mr Builder, why should any sane person pay you more money when you have not finished the build? Even if they did pay you the money, you would still be in debt to the tune of over half a million, so they could still potentially lose their homes.
No, Mr Builder the police should investigate what you did with the money you took. Your assets should be seized and your family’s assets should also be seized as no doubt they profited from your ‘wealth’. Why should 24 families lose their homes while you and your family profit from their misery?
