The Rambler replies
to the arrogant and ignorant statements made by
Lord Kilclooney of Armagh and Lord Maginnis of Drumglass
Cyprus Today December 20th 2008
It should be noted that neither of these self appointed apologists live in the TRNC, they only pop over once in a while for a visit. They clearly have no idea what is happening here. They may consider themselves ‘Friends of the TRNC’ – but when a friend is behaving badly and is likely to be exposed, is it not a friend’s duty to point this out and save their friend from self destruction?
Before these ignorant men ask, we of the HBPG have always supported the TRNC’s fight for their Human Rights and the lifting of the illegal isolation put on them, and we commend them for their support in this fight.
What we will not do is defend, the breaches of foreigners Human Rights, the breaches of the TRNC constitution and the breaches of TRNC laws which have been perpetrated by the lawyers and condoned by the government here.
Are these two Lords actually saying that because some people (and it is only a few) made a stupid mistake that they deserve to be blackmailed, threatened, have fraud, deception and other crimes committed against them? Where does that leave the majority of us who did secure the services of a lawyer who also find themselves in this situation?
Most people with problems who have registered with the HBPG had lawyers working for them, who when pressed about the duty they owed their clients, their ruling body (Baro) responded by saying that they had NO duty of care!
Have these two apologist bothered to contact the HBPG to make a fair appraisal? Not to my knowledge! Like so many, they comment from afar having no idea of what is happening on the ground.
So I challenge these two apologists, for the criminal acts perpetrated against (stupid) foreigners, to attend a meeting in the New Year with Marian Stokes and the active members of the group, to find out the truth.
I do not believe they have the courage to learn the truth because truth is what the HBPG have on their side, not assumptions and rumour.
